Turbo Donate: Donation Pickup Platform
A donation pickup and junk removal service where customers book a collection from their phone. Weblynx built the iOS and Android app, covering photo-led requests, pickup scheduling and status notifications, and ran search engine optimization for the platform.
1 / 2The problem
Clearing out a house in the US is an awkward job. Old furniture, mattresses, kitchen equipment, all of it too big for the bin and too heavy to move alone. Some of it is genuinely worn out. A lot of it is perfectly usable and would be welcome at a shelter or a care home.
The two paths look identical to the person standing in their living room, and neither is easy to arrange. Booking a junk removal company means phone calls and quotes. Donating means finding an organisation that will collect, and finding out whether they even want what you have.
Turbo Donate puts both paths in one place. The customer says what they have and where they are, and the platform sorts out whether it goes to charity or to disposal.
What we built
Weblynx built the mobile application and handled search engine optimization. The web platform and backend were built separately.
The app is where a customer makes the request. They enter their address, choose whether the items are for donation or for junk removal, upload photos of what needs collecting, and pick a pickup window that suits them. Once the request is in, they can track its status through to collection, with notifications at each stage rather than having to check.
Photos matter more here than they look. A pickup crew needs to know whether they are collecting a bedside table or a three-seater sofa before they decide what vehicle to send, and a customer describing furniture in words will not give them that.
Architecture
The application is built in React Native, so a single codebase serves both iOS and Android, and both are live on the App Store and Google Play.
The backend runs on Node and Express with Firebase handling authentication and data, which also carries the notification path that keeps a customer informed from booking through to collection.
Photo upload runs through the same layer, so an image attached to a request stays tied to it all the way to the crew that turns up.
The result
Six months from start to live, with both apps published to the App Store and Google Play.
Alongside the build, we ran search engine optimization for Turbo Donate. Following that work, the client reported a 40 percent increase in user engagement in a verified review on Clutch.
Weblynx continues to work with Turbo Donate.
